Philia Foundation takes a pragmatic approach to remove critical barriers to quality education for primary school pupils, establishing a school sponsorship programme, which includes providing onsite catering, a fully equipped computer lab, and scholarships for pupils in Thies.
The project has been running in 2014 and at the time nearly 50 students received scholarships. These scolarships helped the students to win the mathematics national award. The Foundation also put in place such basic amenities as toilets for pupils and teachers, contributed towards the creation of a new library and plans to build a basketball court and a football field at the school. Future plans include an computer lab and an outdoor vegetable garden.
